Practice Profile

The Practice originated in Romford, Essex in 1929.  As a small Practice, it handled various works, mainly domestic and commercial, until the late 1960's when the Practice expanded and formed 'Associations' with other professional disciplines.  In the early 1970's the Practice, then known as J L Barnard and Partners, headed a consortium of practices with work being undertaken throughout the world.  Specialisation in the field of Pollution Control, Passenger Transport Termini and Security, were developed.

The Practice moved from Romford to Brentwood in 1966 and to Rayleigh in 1993, where we own the freehold to our offices.  Technological changes within the industry have been met, with an increasing reliance on I.T and computerised working.  This includes an annual upgrade of our CAD system, currently AutoCAD Architecture 2010.

The present partners are A R Odden MCIAT, FFB, who joined the practice in 1961, and G G Pearce BA (Hons)Arch.,DipArch.,RIBA.,MaPS.,ATP, who joined in 1982.

We have a wide and varied experience of residential, commercial and industrial projects, with a particular expertise in the fields of Security, Space Planning, Office Layouts, Refurbishment and New Construction.

Although a small practice, we offer a full range of Professional Services, with a commitment to dedicated professional service.  We strive to meet our Client's needs and objectives and accept commissions only when we are confident of our ability to provide the level of services on which our reputation and our pride relies, and for which reasons our Client's have sought to retain our services over many years.
